Sena Altun, a master's student in Chemical Engineering and a 2023 undergraduate alumna of the same department, has been elected as the Secretary of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion for the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) in December 2024.

Sena Altun is conducting her master's research under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Elif Genceli Güner, a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Her research is titled 'Utilizing Impurities Extracted from Antarctic Ice Cores in Chemical Process Applications.'
